Entomologist. Roland Fountain Hussey was born on November 16, 1896. After receiving his doctoral degree from Harvard in 1923 he taught at New York University before pursuing a business career in 1927. However, he continued to engage in field research, principally in Paraguay. In 1947, he returned to teaching at Florida Southern College in Lakeland and came to the University of Florida in 1953.
